Preservation Solutions’ Klucel G is a leather consolidant used to treat leather that is starting to deteriorate or become powdery from a condition called “Red Rot”. It creates a permanent flexible webbing which strengthens the leather and prevents the spread of “Red Rot”. It is excellent for treating and repairing deteriorating leather books/bindings and other fragile antique leather articles.
Klucel G can also be used for reinforcing paper.
Klucel G is a powder that when mixed with isopropyl alcohol, forms a gel and is painted on the affected area of the leather to stabilize it. See full Klucel G directions here.
